Happy-go-lucky Priya Sharma (Saakshi Tanwar), a woman in her early 30s, believes that marriage has passed her by, yet continues to be a romantic soul. She has spent half her life taking up the responsibilities of her family. On the other hand, Ram Kapoor (Ram Kapoor), an entrepreneur in his early 40s, is extremely busy with work and does not feel the need for a life partner. He finds happiness in making his family happy but remains oblivious to the real faces of his family members— a malicious stepmother, Niharika, a spoiled brat of a stepsister, Natasha, a greedy stepbrother, Siddharth, a conspiring uncle, and many others. Yet, marriage suddenly comes knocking at his door.
When Natasha falls in love with Priya's brother Kartik, and the two wish to get married, Niharika decides that Ram should marry Priya, to which Priya's family happily agrees. However, both Ram and Priya are actually poles apart, their personalities and lifestyles being too different. Nevertheless, they agree to marry for their families' sakes, and both marriages occur.
Through Priya and Ram's hilarious bickering, they unknowingly develop a sort of affection for each other. Their relationship grows from awkwardness to a deep bond they both treasure with each other. Meanwhile, Natasha struggles to adjust to middle-class life after marrying Karthik, but plots to reign over the household. Priya and Ram slowly start developing feelings for each other through the small, significant moments they share with each other, especially after being sent to Australia for their honeymoon, during which they become closer.
However, like a pending storm upon the budding of their relationship, Apeksha, a mysterious woman from Ram's past, enters their lives. While Ram is determined to keep her away from their lives and holds the belief that Priya will support him no matter what, Apeksha is bent on revealing the truth to Priya and possibly breaking her growing bond with Ram.
